$11 MILLION! Almost $11 million ($10.8) of recreational marijuana was sold in Illinois during it’s first week of legalization. That’s an astounding number. $3.1 million was generated on the first day alone, January 1st.

The state has recorded over 271,000 sales in their 37 dispensaries. A portion of the sales is returned to the community as a reinvestment fund. The senior adviser to the Governor for cannabis control is on the record saying, “The successful launch of this new industry is a historic development for our state that will benefit the very communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the failed war on drugs.”

The explosion also caused some dispensaries to close for the week.

It’s truly great to see this many people on board. I believe we can all raise our heads up high, higher than you currently are, with the progress we’ve made in the weed industry. Our generation will be the one to get weed legalized in all 50 states. Let’s keep on, keeping on!
